Goju Ryu Karate
Goju Ryu Karate originates in Okinawa and translates to "Hard-Soft Style," encapsulating the core philosophy of this martial art. Here at our dojo, we specialize in the Japanese variant of Goju Ryu, which retains a strong Chinese influence, providing a unique and enriching martial arts experience.
Goju Ryu Karate is the delicate balance between "Go" (hard) and "Ju" (soft) techniques. This balance defines the art, seamlessly blending powerful strikes and protective blocks with graceful, flowing movements.
Our approach to combat isn't just about physical skills; it's about cultivating a genuine and practical self-defence system. Our classes are designed to cover three fundamental aspects:
Kihon (Basics): The foundation of Goju Ryu is built on mastering the fundamentals—stances, strikes, blocks, and kicks. Kihon forms the cornerstone of your martial journey.
Kata (Forms): Kata are prearranged sequences of movements that simulate various combat scenarios.
Kumite (Sparring): Kumite allows you to put your skills to the test in controlled, respectful sparring sessions.
Our students often find that their training goes beyond the dojo. The essential values of respect, discipline, humility, honour, and loyalty are integral to their character, guiding them both on and off the dojo floor.
Karate is a martial art for everyone. It welcomes practitioners of all ages, abilities, and backgrounds
